We run a unique day-tour to to an ethnic minority community in the rural mountains in Hoa Binh province (70km West of Hanoi) that gives you the chance to explore a side of Vietnam very few tourists will ever experience while making a major difference to the lives of Vietnamese farmers like Nguyen Thi Yen and her children, pictured here.
You will gain a genuine insight into how a large number of people live in rural Vietnam, spending the day with a group of people who desperately want a chance to improve their lives. With a small loan funded by the tour they can become self-sufficient, better providing for themselves and their dependents. We will spend a few hours visiting these women and with the help of our fantastic translators you will learn a great deal about the realities disadvantaged women face here in Vietnam as well as the local history, religious customs and culture. Lunch is a traditional meal at the house of the Local Women’s Union head and a highlight of the day.
We will also visit the broom cooperative where local women come to work at free time to earn some extra cash where you can learn all the procedures of making a broom by hand. You can also try your hand at some agricultural activities with our borrowers such as making shrimp baskets with bamboo bands, harvesting rice and fishing using local traditional methods.
Take a look at our itinerary to see the full details of this incredible opportunity and make a real change to local lives!
See what the press and our tour guests are saying about our microfinance tours in Vietnam!
“My microfinance tour with Bloom Microventures was a unique and amazing experience. Exploring rural communities off the tourist trail, meeting and interacting with local people and learning about the culture was extremely interesting and fun. Furthermore, my tour fees helped make a difference to the lives of the local microcredit borrowers I personally met. I would highly recommend this tour!”
Edelgard Bulmahn, Member of the German Bundestag and former Federal Minister of Education and Research (1998-2005)
“What a truly brilliant concept! Sustainable tourism as I have never seen it before! [...] Highly recommended for both travellers and expats.”
Luke Ford, CEO Gunyah Travel
“Our day with Bloom Microventures was a real eye-opener, as well as inspiring, humbling, informative – and fun. Without doubt it was the highlight of our visit! [...] Tourism at its very best. If you only do one tour when you’re in Vietnam, make sure it’s this one!”
Judy Bennett & Willie Gordon, Cooktown, Australia
“More than an average day out![...] This tour is the ideal way for expats to discover an untouched part of Vietnam and at the same time help provide loans for microfinance.”
